Become a Community Leader
Do you have a strong commitment to make a difference in your community? Our Community Leaders are individuals with a passion to make a difference in the lives of children with cancer. Your dedication will have a lasting impact not only in your community, but all across America.
As a Community Leader you will utilize your time, expertise and list of contacts to raise awareness about children’s cancer. Additionally, you should be able to dedicate about five hours per month to creating awareness of children’s cancer and conducting local events.
In recognition of your dedication to becoming a Community Leader, we will give you business cards, letterheads, envelopes, brochures and even direct mailings at no cost to build community awareness. All these items are generously donated by our Corporate Angels.
Some of your responsibilities to bring awareness to your community should include:
Obtaining free advertising (public service announcements) with local radio stations, cable companies and newspapers. We’ll give you all the files and support you’ll need.
Here’s Our Public Service Announcement (PSA) that may air on your local radio stations
Speak at local gatherings of businesspersons, school parents, or church groups. We’ll help you by providing notes and fact sheets that you can use in your public speaking.
Arrange for Cookies For a Cure nights at local restaurants where a percentage of the day’s total sale is dedicated to our cause. This can be done easily on a night when the restaurant may normally be closed. It’s a win-win for everyone as the restaurant can gain additional sales while giving a portion to Cookies For a Cure as a tax-deductible donation. We’ll give you all the necessary items to promote the event, including insert slips for the restaurant’s check presenters for the preceding month.
Arrange for Cookie and Bake Sales in your community. Some ideas might be hosting a booth at a street fair or sporting event. It’s fun to gain community visibility with a booth filled with cookies and baked goods for a good cause. We’ll support you with free banners, flyers, signs, posters, brochures, labels and receipt slips.
Arrange for other awareness and fund-raising events, such as: spaghetti dinners, golfing events, pancake breakfasts, bowling nights, walking or running marathons, and more. If you can come up with an event idea, we’ll support you in every way we can.
